Over the last 20 years I’ve become the marketer, the entrepreneur, the innovator and the teacher; and what unites this unique blend is my passion to make things happen and my commitment to helping others’ do the same. My mission is to make start-up innovation flourish and to support other entrepreneurial teams navigating the journey of starting up and scaling up too.

SMALL BRANDS TO BIG BRANDS & BACK AGAIN

After getting a taste for entrepreneurship by starting my first business at the age of 18, I embarked on a classically-trained brand marketing career. I had the fortune of leading the marketing and innovation for some of the world’s best-known brands (Mercedes, Nescafe, Robinsons, Bisto) as well as becoming, what would now be know as, an intrapreneur at Nestle in a team responsible for creating and launching company-disruptive innovation in multiple countries.

Since 2011 I have become somewhat of a serial entrepreneur: Community SaaS platform Brand Gathering launched in 2012 and was acquired by Enterprise Nation in 2015; marketing-tech platform Openr followed and become a Cannes Lion Innovation winner, used by brands like Samsung, Vodafone and Expedia. On this journey I bootstrapped and raised money; grew teams and shrunk them; exited and had a corporate buy-out fall through a the 11th hour. The learning I acquired on this journey has throughout been the fuel for coaching, advising and mentoring others on their journey too, and as a result I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of young businesses – defining their growth strategies and helping them deliver them, across both B2B and B2C.
Fuelled by the passion to facilitate entrepreneurship, I teach Entrepreneurial Marketing on the MSc in Entrepreneurship at UCL School of Management, and support the learning programmes of accelerators and institutions across the South-East. I am an outspoken advocate of early-stage idea validation – combining lean start-up principles with sales and marketing to run real market tests – and continue to test new ventures in market myself, in pursuit of my next start-up adventure.

I am a trustee of young charity Breadwinners; a seed investor and hands-on board advisor for a number of different start-ups, and I also take on select consultancy projects with corporations committed to disruptive, breakout innovation in-house.

I co-authored a book called Dear Female Founder with 65 other female entrepreneurs and I take great pleasure in helping to host tea-parties once a month for older ladies in need of company with the charity Contact the Elderly.

I am a regular speaker and panel member and have had the pleasure of speaking at the British Library’s Inspiring Entrepreneurs conference; at the MADE Entrepreneurs Festival and in Rome at the Global Festival of Media. Favourite keynote topics include:
